One Good Thing: Coffee Cocktails at Amberson Coffee
Welcome to One Good Thing, a weekly(ish) series where I write about one really good thing that I think you should know about.
What’s the One Good Thing? The coffee-based cocktails at Amberson Coffee’s ticketed event.
What makes it so good? What comes to mind when someone says “coffee cocktail”? An espresso martini, right?
The coffee-based cocktails at Amberson’s one-off pop ups are nothing like your basic espresso martini. These are flavor-packed, well-balanced cocktails made with rum, mezcal, sotol, gin… no basic espresso martinis here.
Our tickets got us each two cocktails, so we tried four out of the five options on the menu:
The Spirit of My People: Iced coffee, gin, mezcal, sotol, spiced hibiscus, spearmint, and piñon orgeat
Mi Buen (my favorite!): Espresso, corn liqueur, Licor 43, evaporated milk foam, orange
Lost Between Mexico and Ireland: Brewed coffee, whiskey, mezcal, caramelized plantain, apple cider
Don Ron: Brewed coffee, rum, xtabentun, amaretto milk punch, grape, orange oleo saccharum
This was a super special, calm, intimate event where we got to try flavor combinations that we never would have considered previously. I mean, hibiscus + spearmint + coffee?!
Where can I get it? Amberson Coffee — but only during special private events. Make sure to follow their Instagram for future event announcements. Summer cocktail events are a maybe!
