One Good Thing: The Giant Caramel Apple from DeBrand
Welcome to One Good Thing, a weekly(ish) series where I write about one really good thing that I think you should know about.
What’s the One Good Thing? The Giant Caramel Apple from DeBrand Fine Chocolates, an Indiana-based chocolate company.
What makes it so good? DeBrand didn’t come to play when it comes to calling this thing “giant.” “Massive” or “gargantuan” could also be fitting names for this apple on a stick. Their website claims that it feeds up to 8-12 people, which I could see… if you don’t like caramel apples very much.
You can choose your own adventure with this caramel apple — dark or milk chocolate, nuts or no nuts. I chose dark chocolate with nuts.
If you’ve ever been disappointed by a caramel apple with not enough caramel, you need to meet DeBrand’s apples, which are enrobed in a half-inch thick layer of caramel and nuts. These jumbo apples — weighting in at around two pounds each — are only around for a limited time each fall.
Where can I get it? DeBrand is based in Fort Wayne, but they’ve got a beautiful Indianapolis store located at Keystone at the Crossing. In addition to their fall caramel apples, they sell handmade chocolates and make sundaes and coffee drinks to order.
