Where to Find Dollar Oysters in Indianapolis
Yep, it can be done. You can, in fact, get a taste of the sea without buying a plane ticket or packing up your car for a roadtrip.
And you can do it for way, way less than the price of a plane ticket.
Over the last several years, oysters have shown up on more and more menus in Indianapolis. And with more oysters comes more chances to eat them at a discount.
Here’s where to find oysters for a dollar or two in Indy. If you’re banking on discounted oysters, make sure to check with the restaurant before making a special trip to avoid disappointment.
On with the oyster specials!
Strange Bird
Strange Bird is a rum and oyster bar located in Irvington on Indianapolis’ east side. Visit them on Sundays for half-price oysters. They’ve also got oyster happy hour every day from 5-6 PM.
Bocca
Every Monday, visit Bocca on the near northside for $1 oysters. Then enjoy their Italian classics and cocktails for dinner.
Kan-Kan Cinema & Brasserie
On Sunday, Kan-Kan shucks oysters for just $1 a pop. Get them from 4 PM onward, but be warned: they go quick.
Bluebeard
Bluebeard is a sister restaurant to Kan-Kan that also serves oysters, so it makes sense that they also have a Sunday oyster special. Grab a dozen oysters for just $6 (aka $2 each) at this Fletcher Place spot on Sundays.
Blupoint Oyster House
You can get fresh seafood, pasta, and cocktails at Blupoint throughout the week, but Tuesday is the day to visit when you’re in the mood for oysters. For just $2 per, you can enjoy as many oysters as you can eat.
Gallery Pastry Shop, Gallery Pastry Bar, & Gallery on 16th
All of Gallery’s locations offer $1 oysters from 3-5 PM on weekdays. You might encounter a champagne special, or a oyster/frites combo deal from time to time — keep an eye on their Instagram accounts for updates.
Slapfish Mass Ave
Slapfish’s downtown location serves oysters for $1 every day! Share a dozen oysters with a friend and then enjoy one of their famous lobster rolls or a bowl of lobster bisque.
Goose the Market
On Mondays, Goose’s enoteca (cellar bar) is the place to be. Get a dozen oysters for just $18, or less than $2 per oyster. They serve a rotating house mignonette with their oysters that’s always incredible — one recent mignonette was made with coconut and it was to die for.
